1. Are you an OTP person “Outside the Perimeter” or an ITP “Inside the Perimeter” person? Here in Atlanta, this stands for Inside or Outside the I-285 Highway Perimeter or some may call it “The Loop”. This refers to where you want to live in the city.
Inside the perimeter includes Downtown Atlanta and lots of nightlife, shopping, parks, the Beltline. It’s a bustling area. Outside the perimeter involves more suburbs and family-oriented places. It’s more spread out. They are two completely different types of lifestyles. Which do you envision for yourself? Things to do in Atlanta are seemingly unlimited whether you live inside the perimeter or outside but vary greatly!
2. Schools. Do you have children now or will you have them, and what kind of education do you want for them? There are some great public and private schools all around the Atlanta area so check out SchoolDigger.com {https://www.schooldigger.com/go/GA/search.aspx} to start the research.
3. Atlanta Traffic. It’s really something else. If you have a commute of more than 2 or 3 miles, then you’re probably going to want to live somewhat close to where you work. However, we have a great public transport system, MARTA. It’s a great option for going anywhere in downtown and even Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. MARTA even offers free parking!
