Today I am joined by one of our team’s partners, Dianna McWhorter, to talk about how she walks first-time homebuyers through the real estate process. There is one story, specifically, that Dianna believes to exemplify what she does.
Dianna recalls meeting in January with a young couple who were ready to purchase their first home. After touring a couple of homes, they submitted an offer. The offer was accepted by the seller, but as they proceeded into the inspection process, issues arose. These issues were some Dianna believed to be deal-breakers, and ultimately convinced the buyers that it was time to back away from the listing.
After that, Dianna helped the couple find the perfect home. They won out against competing offers and began working through escrow. Everything was going well until a week before closing, the real estate attorney couldn't find a recorded easement. Of course, this created a very frustrating situation. But, ultimately, Dianna went above and beyond to work things out.
She looked through deed books at the county office and found that there truly was no recorded easement. After that realization, the lender and Dianna spent an evening visiting 20 different homes to get the easement. Then, finally, they got the easement recorded and were able to close just a few days later.
It doesn’t matter whether you are buying your first or your fifteenth home- purchasing real estate is stressful. This is why Dianna says that she will do “anything and everything to keep a deal from falling apart.”
